Online & In-Person
We have virtual and in-person classes so you can find a class that works with your schedule.
Available Classes
Adult Basic Education (ABE)
ABE classes are created for adults who need to learn reading, writing, math, and spelling skills. They also help increase your ability to understand the things that you read.

English as a Second Language
English classes are designed for adults to help gain confidence to speak and read in English. Classes work on listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills.
High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) Preparatory Classes
High School Equivalency (HSE) classes are designed to help adults obtain their high school diplomas. We understand that life’s challenges can get in the way and we want to help you develop your full potential. That’s why our HSE classes are designed to help you earn your high school diploma; this opens doors for higher education and new opportunities in the workforce. Our HSE classes cover reading, writing, math, social studies, and science.

U.S. Citizenship Classes
Achieving U.S. citizenship is a big step, and our citizenship classes are here to help. Classes cover the American history, government, and cultural information needed to pass the test. Passing this test gives you a future with rights and opportunities that come with being a United States citizen.

Graduation and Citizenship Events
We celebrate every student who earns their High School diploma or completes their U.S. Citizenship classes with special ceremonies. We believe that achieving these milestones should be celebrated. Your success is a victory! Invite your friends and family to watch you graduate from your program at Community Literacy Centers.

COURSE LENGTH
The length of each course may vary and may include different levels such as ESL 1 through 10.
The most important part of each course is that every student learns the material and meets their goals for the class which may be passing a test (HiSET or Citizenship) or reaching a level of mastery in the subject.
CHILD CARE
We know adult learning means our students may have children who need childcare in order to be able to attend classes. That’s why CLC works with our location partners to provide childcare services for our students who need it. Please be sure to ask about childcare during your enrollment process.
BOOKS AND CLASS MATERIALS
CLC gives you all books, printed handouts, and online resources tailored to each course.
A laptop, desktop computer or cell phone with internet is all you need to have for classes.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Being present and focused in class is important for you to get the most out of the program you are attending. Your teacher will tell you what to do if you need to miss class and what to do to be sure you do not fall behind in your course work.
