Shawna Templeton

shawna templetonShawna considers herself a native Oklahoman, living here from early childhood, which has instilled in her a desire to help fellow Oklahomans improve their lives through literacy. Shawna enjoys studying her Native American Heritage, and understands the impact a parent learning to read has on their children and entire family. She loves helping people and daily encounters with customers from all walks of life in her banking career.

You never know where life will take you, and strong communication skills are critical in any career field. Shawna’s first love was fashion, earning a B.S. degree in Fashion Merchandising, from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1995. Her friendliness and people skills won over the management at Foley’s, who hired her away to manage the Estee Lauder cosmetics counter. She quickly became a sales leader in the store, always studying sales techniques, and earning a reputation for building strong customer relationships.

Soon, Arvest Bank noticed her strong selling skills and knack for building customer loyalty, hiring her as Branch Manager for their downtown location. Through Arvest Bank, Shawna met Becky O’Dell, who recruited her as a CLC Board Member. Not one to shy away from responsibility, she is serving her second year as Secretary for CLC, capitalizing on her strong organizational skills and attention to detail. In November 2012, Shawna took her banking skills to BancFirst, where she manages the BancFirst Waterford Branch.

Shawna is a founding member of Leaders Achieving Excellence, a local business referral and networking group. She has served as the Secretary/Treasurer and on the Advisory Council since the group’s inception in 2003.
