CLC Celebrates Recent Funding Wins Supporting Adult Literacy (May, 2026)

Community Literacy Centers is grateful to celebrate several recent funding awards that will help sustain and strengthen our adult literacy programs across the community.

Together, these gifts represent more than $30,000 in critical support for CLC’s mission. Grants, donations and in-kind contributions are essential to keeping our programs going, helping provide adult learners with access to instruction, books, testing resources and the encouragement they need to continue building literacy, language and life skills.

We are deeply thankful to each of these funding partners for investing in adult education and helping CLC continue opening doors for learners, families and communities.

Literacy Can’t Wait (February 2, 2026)

“When adults improve their literacy skills, the benefits ripple through entire families,” said Sharron Jackson, CEO of Community Literacy Centers.
Catching literacy challenges early matters—but it’s never too late. Investing in adult literacy strengthens families, improves student outcomes, and helps break generational cycles.

CLC and Mercy Health Literacy (January, 2026)

Through a partnership with Mercy Health Oklahoma, CLC is participating in a community-based Health Literacy initiative designed to improve patient understanding, medication safety, healthcare navigation, and digital access. The Mercy Health Literacy program serves adult learners facing reading and language barriers, and can increase patient confidence, improve understanding of Mercy instructions and services, and strengthen engagement with primary and preventive care. This Health Literacy program aligns with CLC’s mission to support Adult literacy in Oklahoma County.
